As the 2027 political campaigns gather momentum, Hon. Makali Mulu has repeatedly told the people of Kitui that he has delivered outstanding development and therefore deserves to be the next Governor. Such a serious claim deserves to be tested against facts, not political slogans.
The simplest way to evaluate his record is to separate his personal achievements from projects implemented by others.
First, remove every development project undertaken by former Governor Charity Ngilu in Kitui Central. Next, remove all projects funded and implemented by the County Government since devolution began. Then, remove all projects initiated by former Speaker George Ndoto. Finally, remove every National Government project, including tarmac roads, schools, electricity connections, water projects and other infrastructure financed directly by the National Treasury.
After stripping away all these projects, one fundamental question remains:
What major development has Hon. Makali personally initiated and delivered after receiving nearly KSh 2 billion in NG-CDF and other public resources during his years as MP?
This is the question the people of Kitui Central deserve answered.
Leadership should be measured by visible results, not endless speeches or carefully crafted political narratives. A leader seeking promotion to the highest office in the county must first demonstrate a strong and verifiable record where he currently serves.
The people of Kitui Central do not need propaganda. They need facts. They need accountability. They need evidence that the billions allocated to their constituency have translated into meaningful and lasting development.
Before asking the people of Kitui County to entrust him with an even bigger responsibility, Hon. Makali should honestly account for his own development record in Kitui Central.
The voters deserve the truth not recycled promises, exaggerated claims, or credit for projects delivered by others.
