A burial ceremony in Mwingi North became a talking point among local political observers, with mourners exchanging jokes about the reactions of leaders who addressed the gathering.Much of the banter centered on Senator Enoch Wambua, popularly known as “Kiio,” a name associated with a man who is quick to cry.

As Dr. Irene Kasalu was invited to speak, she received a warm and enthusiastic reception from mourners. The loud applause quickly became the subject of discussion, with some attendees joking that it may have unsettled Kiio, who is also seeking the Wiper Party gubernatorial ticket.

When Senator Wambua later took to the podium, many expected him to use the opportunity to popularize his bid. Instead, much of his speech focused on his fellow aspirants, accusing them of not accompanying Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to political functions outside Kitui County.

His remarks immediately sparked conversations among supporters of the different camps, with many wondering why he had chosen to focus more on his rivals than on his own agenda.After the burial, political gossip continued to dominate discussions.

According to people close to the senator, he declined an invitation to accompany Kalonzo Musyoka to his home for dinner. Those close to him reportedly claimed he felt the party leader was not treating his gubernatorial bid as seriously as that of some of his competitors.

By evening, the jokes were still flowing, with some residents humorously saying that the burial had ended, but Kiio’s tantrums had not. Others jokingly nicknamed him The Town Crier.
