Dr. Irene Kasalu Continues Ziara Mashinani Tour, Pledges Economic Empowerment and Tangible Development for Kitui Residents.

Dr. Irene Kasalu today continued her Ziara Mashinani tour with a visit to Mwambiu Market in Nuu Ward, Mwingi Central Constituency, where she engaged residents on the challenges affecting their daily lives and shared her vision for a more inclusive, prosperous, and people-centred Kitui County.

Dr. Kasalu thanked the people of Mwambiu for their warm reception and for openly sharing their concerns, ideas, and aspirations. She noted that these grassroots engagements are helping shape her agenda and reinforcing her commitment to leadership that listens, understands, and delivers solutions based on the priorities of the people.

She emphasized that her leadership will focus on empowering residents to improve their livelihoods and increase the purchasing power of small-scale earners, women, and young people. She highlighted the need to create more economic opportunities through enterprise support, skills development, job creation, and programmes that enable households to build sustainable sources of income.

Dr. Kasalu reaffirmed her commitment to improving the county’s road network to ease movement, strengthen trade, and connect communities; expanding access to clean and reliable water; and investing in initiatives that unlock the potential of young people and local businesses.

She noted that true development must go beyond physical infrastructure and must also strengthen the economic capacity of ordinary citizens. According to Dr. Kasalu, when residents have opportunities to earn, grow businesses, and participate meaningfully in the economy, the entire county experiences greater prosperity.

“Sustainable development can only be achieved by listening to communities and working together to address their priorities. Every part of Kitui deserves equal attention, fair opportunities, and meaningful development,” she said.

Dr. Kasalu added that her vision is to build a county where every resident can access essential services, better infrastructure, and opportunities that improve livelihoods.

“Our vision is to build a county where every community has access to essential services, better infrastructure, and opportunities that improve livelihoods. Together, we can transform Kitui into a county that works for everyone,” she said.

The Ziara Mashinani tour will continue to Nuu Town, as Dr. Kasalu engages more residents across the county, listening to their concerns and building a shared vision for a better future for Kitui under the theme of Haki na Usawa.
