The political realignment around Kitui Central MP Makali Mulu is raising fresh questions within Wiper circles.Makali’s chief strategist and spokesperson, Katiwa Nzoka, has reportedly ditched Wiper for UDA, while Makali continues to receive a string of endorsements from politicians aligned to the ruling party.
To political observers, the developments are beginning to look less like isolated events and more like a carefully coordinated realignment ahead of 2027.
The appointment of Makali’s son to a senior position in the UDA administration has further intensified the speculation. Since that appointment, some Wiper voices have questioned Makali’s loyalty to the party and warned Kalonzo Musyoka against placing too much trust in him.
Critics are now asking whether Makali is genuinely committed to Wiper or quietly preparing an alternative political home under UDA.
For Wiper, the issue is becoming bigger than the Kitui gubernatorial contest.
The real question is: Is Makali a loyal Wiper player or a UDA project operating from within?
