How One Woman’s Dream Is Transforming the Lives of Over 200 Underprivileged Children in Kitui.

In her New Year message, Dr. Irene Kasalu celebrated a major milestone in her education empowerment journey 250 scholars who have benefited from her support since 2017.

Through a comprehensive four-year scholarship program funded by the Office of the Woman Representative, Dr. Kasalu has enabled 250 students to successfully complete their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).

The program targeted learners from the county’s most vulnerable households, offering full support for tuition, school uniforms, and essential learning materials.

Dr. Kasalu noted that the initiative was designed to remove financial barriers that often force bright students out of school, contributing to high dropout rates in the region.

“Education is the ultimate equalizer,” she said. “By sponsoring these 250 students, we are not just paying school fees we are making a deliberate investment to break the cycle of poverty for 250 families.”

As the graduates transition to universities, colleges, and vocational institutions, Dr. Kasalu reaffirmed her commitment to human capital development, describing education as the foundation of sustainable growth and long-term transformation in Kitui County.
