Dr. Irene Kasalu, the Kitui Woman Representative and gubernatorial aspirant, today took part in International Women’s Day celebrations at Nyuani in Kitui West.In her address, she called for deliberate empowerment of women and girls across the county.

Dr. Kasalu pledged to continue championing women’s empowerment if elected governor next year, noting that she has concrete plans to ensure women compete equally with men, even in traditionally male-dominated fields.

She also called on the judiciary and law enforcement agencies to firmly address issues affecting women and girls, including domestic violence, sexual harassment and defilement of children.She was accompanied by Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe and Kitui West MP Edith Nyenze.
