Residents of Kitui are still trying to recover from laughter after an audio clip involving gospel artist Justina Syokau and activist Katiwa Nzoka began circulating, turning the quiet county into a temporary centre of drama and comedy. In the now-viral recording, Katiwa is allegedly heard confronting the singer over messages he claims she had sent him suggesting a very warm and energetic private meeting. His tone in the clip, according to listeners, is a mixture of shock, confusion, and the kind of curiosity usually reserved for people who find a goat inside their kitchen. What followed, was not the calm and prayerful discussion many expected. Instead, the exchange reportedly became heated faster than a charcoal stove in December. Katiwa is heard asking Syokau why she would send such messages, clearly searching for answers like a man who has opened a WhatsApp message twice and still doesn’t understand it.But if he expected apologies or explanations, he was in for a surprise. In her defence, Syokau allegedly dismissed the claims and fired back strongly, calling him a fool and adding a few other colourful words that have since become the subject of serious analysis in Kitui’s barber shops, salons, and boda boda stages. Some listeners claim the level of “boiling” in her voice could power the entire county.Since the audio surfaced, Kitui residents have turned the matter into full entertainment. Market traders are reportedly discussing it between selling tomatoes, while evening gossip groups have replayed the clip more times than their favourite gospel songs. One local joked that this is the first time a voice note has united people more than Alicia kanini’s leaks.
