Dr. Irene Kasalu Condemns Attack on Gachagua-Affiliated Church Event in Mathira

Kitui Woman Representative Dr. Irene Kasalu has strongly condemned an alleged attack on a church event associated with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in Mathira, terming the incident unfortunate and dangerous.
Addressing the media, Dr. Kasalu decried what she described as rising political intolerance, noting with concern that elderly people and children were among those affected.
“This kind of animosity being meted out on worshippers especially the elderly and innocent children is unacceptable in any civilized society,” she said.
The legislator further argued that the incident reflects growing panic among political opponents.
“These are clear panic reactions after sensing defeat. Some have now resorted to scare tactics, but such methods will not work,” Dr. Kasalu added.
She called on leaders across the political divide to preach peace and restraint, warning that inflammatory actions and rhetoric risk destabilizing the country.
Dr. Kasalu urged security agencies to investigate the incident and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice, emphasizing that political competition should never spill into violence or intimidation.
