Former Deputy President Gachagua has single-handedly put Northern leaders at odds with their electorate by claiming that funds meant for development projects are being used to build malls and hotels in Nairobi.Speaking in an interview earlier this week, Gachagua, armed with documents and statistics detailing how much these northern constituencies have received, argued that the money could have completely transformed these regions.Since then, youths from the Northern Frontier have taken to social media to call out their leaders for corruption. They have gone further to criticize the so-called “elders’ negotiated democracy,” describing it as a recipe for and enabler of corruption.
