Firebrand lawyer and political activist Miguna Miguna has announced that he will vie for the presidency in the 2027 General Election, saying he is ready to offer himself for the country’s top seat.Speaking during an interview on TV47 with Ainea Debearl, Miguna said Kenya’s long-standing problem of corruption can only be confronted by a candidate like him, whom he described as fearless, principled, and uncompromising. He argued that the political class has failed the country and insisted that he stands head and shoulders above all those who have so far expressed interest in the presidency.Miguna did not hold back in his criticism of President William Ruto, taking a swipe at the Head of State and branding him unfit to govern. He went further to describe Ruto as the worst president Kenya has ever had, accusing his administration of deepening corruption and betraying the promises made to Kenyans. The outspoken lawyer is no stranger to controversy. Before his dramatic deportation from Kenya during the previous administration, Miguna had unsuccessfully contested the Nairobi gubernatorial seat. His political journey has since been marked by legal battles, exile, and relentless criticism of successive governments. With his declaration, Miguna adds a new twist to the already crowded 2027 presidential race, positioning himself as an anti-corruption crusader and an outsider determined to shake up Kenya’s political establishment.
