Former Kitui Rural MP Charles Nyamai has announced his return to active politics and confirmed he will contest the constituency seat in the 2027 General Election.
Nyamai, who served two consecutive terms from 2007 to 2017, is set to face the incumbent Bonny Mwalika, who will be defending his seat.
However, Nyamai has not yet declared the party he will use. Political pundits say that should he align himself with a party affiliated to the United Opposition, he would mount a serious challenge to the sitting MP.
The contest is already generating excitement and is expected to be one of the most competitive races in Kitui County.
