Bailing out Kinengo was a mistake he should have faced the consequences. — Kauta

Musili Kauta has slammed the Kitui County Government for using public funds to bail out the County Assembly Speaker, Kevin Kinengo, during his detention in Dubai, saying authorities should have “let him rot in jail.”
According to Kauta, the trip by Kinengo and his delegation added no value whatsoever to the lives of the people of Kitui, terming it a wasteful excursion disguised as official business.
The Kitui County Assembly Speaker, Kevin (Kelvin) Kinengo, was detained in Dubai after authorities barred him from leaving the country over an outstanding debt reportedly linked to the county government amounting to about Sh8.9 million. Kinengo was in the United Arab Emirates on what was described as official Assembly business when the issue arose, forcing the county government to intervene and settle the debt to secure his release.
Kauta has questioned the prudence, accountability, and justification of bailing out the Speaker using public resources, arguing that ordinary residents of Kitui continue to suffer as leaders engage in expensive foreign trips with little to show for them.
