Kitui County is witnessing a refreshing shift as young, educated, and determined women step forward to take up key leadership rolesdefying long-held stereotypes and challenging the status quo.

Topping the list is the current Kitui Woman Representative, Dr. Irene Kasalu who has declared her bid for the gubernatorial seat.

She is set to square it out with Senator Enoch Wambua and Kitui Central MP Makali Mulu, making the 2027 race one of the most competitive and consequential in the county’s history.

Also in the spotlight is Rhoda Kithuku, a chief inspector of the police and a medic, who has thrown her hat into the ring for the Woman Representative seat, bringing with her a strong background in public service and community health.

Joining her is Dr. Agnes Mawia, a medical professional as well, who is also eyeing the Woman Representative position, promising people-centered leadership grounded in service and compassion.

Last but not least is Ms Fridah Makasi who is seeking to Dr. Irene Kasalu as the Kitui County MP, signaling a bold generational and leadership transition in the region.
