A strong coalition of more 800 university and college students from Kitui County have committed to throw their weight behind the gubernatorial candidature of Hon. Irene Kasalu, the current Woman Representative.

The endorsement came during a well-attended consultative meeting in Nairobi, where student delegates unanimously resolved to back Kasalu in the 2027 race. The team noted that their decision followed an extensive background review of all contenders.

Speaking during the event, delegates’ chairperson Alice Kathini Mueke explained that Kasalu’s relatability and age proximity made her the most appealing candidate.

“Kasalu relates to us in ways the other aspirants do not. She feels like an elder sister who understands the youth, not a grandmother or mother figure,” she said.

The students praised Kasalu’s untainted public service record and expressed confidence in her leadership, vowing to mobilize more young people across the county to support her vision.
